Heuristics are robust, simple rules that might not optimise but are efficient and generally deliver good outcomes. Many of these when enacted are useful Practices. They are often banal, but can be extremely useful in achieving goals, being healthier and avoiding decision fatigue. They can probably be fit into a Tweet. Some simple examples I use of general use:

  • Avoid sugary, carbonated drinks (they are usually unhealthy and in my experience not actually that enjoyable).
  • Don’t drink coffee regularly (I drink lots of coffee but avoid making it a routine).
  • Don’t dry dishes by hand if there is room to let dry naturally (what a hideous waste of time and a great way to smear bacteria over them).
